Artist Bio

Laurie-Lynn McGlynn was born in Toronto, Ontario. She completed a BFA with distinction from the University of Waterloo and has just returned from Halifax where she became an MFA candidate at NSCAD University. Before returning to university, McGlynn worked full time as an emerging artist and instructor for adult educational programming in Ontario. As a process-based artist, McGlynn's work explores the materiality of acrylic painting as a way in which to thematically reference erosion and structural decay of the built environment. Her 3-Dimensional paintings allow the viewer to engage with the work fully and from more than a traditional 2-Dimensional perspective. McGlynn's work has been exhibited in public galleries in Nova Scotia and across Ontario, including Anna Leonowens Gallery in Halifax; the Canadian Sculpture Gallery in Toronto; Arta Gallery in the Distillery District of Toronto; Western University Art Gallery in London; University of Waterloo Art Gallery (UWAG) & Stratford campus; Norfolk Art Gallery in Simcoe; Gales Gallery York University; and the Timeraiser Art Auction.
